Renovation and adaptation
- Site and date: Berlin, 2008-2009
- Client: Private
After this property on Drakestraße in the noble Lichterfelde-West district of Berlin had been used as a nursing home, we were able to remove all additions and highlight the original structure. The spacious historic villa, with nearly 450 m² of usable space across four floors, was restored and modernized. Energy consulting led to solar energy, a water-heating chimney, and facade, roof, and perimeter insulation. By preserving the original double-sash windows, the historic wooden staircase, flooring, and other existing details, the revitalization of this classic property was successful. The urban home, featuring a granny flat in the basement, was reintegrated into the garden and enhanced with an entrance terrace accessible from the street and additional inviting terraces.
